What is Face Reflexology?

Face Reflexology is a complementary therapy that brings together looking and feeling good. It is a treatment that combines three ancient alternative therapies: Chinese energy meridians, acupuncture points, Vietnamese and Andean tribal body maps.

The success and effectiveness of Face Reflexology lies in its ability to identify the root cause of any health imbalances and its ability to stimulate a healing process within the individual using the balancing properties of the above three disciplines.

As the treatment is all performed on the face, naturally the blood circulation, lymphatic drainage and nerve stimulation result in people looking and feeling better.

Where did it originate?

It was devised by Lone Sorensen Lopez, over a number of years, using traditional health methods from the Orient and South America along with the modern science of neurology and, although has only been in the UK more recently, has been growing as a complementary therapy both within the UK and other areas of the world.

How does it work?

Face Reflexology treatment covers the entire surface of the face (except the eyelids). Different areas of the face are then carefully manipulated stimulating the face. During this process, I sense the texture of each area.

Lumpiness under the skin ranging from a grain of sand, rice or small pearl can identify long-standing imbalances, often indicating the root cause of physical discomfort or health problems. Through different techniques, I will then work to eliminate this imperfection and blockage in energy.

Then by using a Vietnamese map of the face, I work on different parts of the face, which relate to the physical aspects of the body.

Also, out of a possible 564 neurological face points, a specific combination of nerve points are chosen and stimulated to direct impulses via the central nervous system to specific organs.

This can improve your blood circulation and balance your body.

What happens during a treatment?

A detailed confidential health history is always obtained from the client on their first appointment and during the first treatment any imbalance identified. Any subsequent treatments work on any imbalance identified.

All treatment is carried out on the face using only the fingertips. Before the treatment commences your face is cleansed using organic rose water and almond oil is then applied to aid the therapy.

Every session commences with the stimulation of facial acupuncture points to invigorate the nerves, lymphatic and blood circulation of the face.

I then proceed with a series of different treatment procedures focusing on face maps, which represent your 12 major Chinese energy meridians. Through these maps, the brain and nerve system is stimulated and the healing process initiated.

What is a treatment like?

Face Reflexology is deeply relaxing. It is not always appreciated how much tension can build up in the muscles of your face, this can reflect through the entire body. Daily use of your face to express or suppress emotion, can all result in an accumulation of facial muscle tension. The deep releasing strokes of face reflexology can help to steadily dissipate any tension, helping you look better and achieving a corresponding improvement in your health.

Who can benefit from Face Reflexology?

This is a complementary health therapy and as such, anybody can benefit.

There are no known contraindications, so it is a therapy that should suit everyone.

How many sessions will I need?

Each person is unique, but I will perform an initial assessment of your meridian (energy flow) imbalances during the first session. Subsequent sessions will consist of a complete treatment, including precise stimulation of points identified during your first appointment. Although not everybody will respond to the treatment in the same way, this being dependent on how you live your life from day to day, the majority of clients should see results in a short time. Many people usually want relief from their symptoms; however the beauty of face reflexology is that you also address the cause, therefore it can help to improve the overall quality of life.

A beneficial side-effect, and one which is becoming the main reason for undergoing Face Reflexology, is that it tones the muscles and the skin looks better. So it is a win-win scenario!

How long is each session?

The initial consultation lasts about 1 hour and 15 minutes and subsequent treatments last approximately 50 minutes. The benefits continue for several days and a course of treatment is usually advised.

Can I have a trial treatment?

Yes, taster treatments can be arranged. These are usually for a 20-minute period: a full medical history is not obtained and they involve a reduced treatment. However, it is a great way to see if Face Reflexology is for you at a lower outlay.
